Meet Our Therapists

Sherry L Shields, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, ACS

Sherry is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Pennsylvania and Virginia), National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Certified Mediator, and holds a Pennsylvania Professional Education Certification as a Secondary School Counselor.

She is completing her supervision hours to become a National Certified Gambling Counselor. She is credentialed with many leading insurance companies including UPMC Health Plan, Highmark, TRICARE, Medicaid, and many others.

Sherry earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minored in Criminology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was an Honors Graduate of the Department of Psychology and received a Graduate Merit Scholarship.

During her undergraduate years, she held leadership positions and earned multiple awards including membership in Delta Epsilon lota, United States National Collegiate Award, Natural Science Award (2004, 2005), Collegiate All-American Scholar Award (2002, 2003, 2004), Phi Kappa Phi, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2003), and Psi Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology, Treasurer, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2003).

Sherry received her M.Ed. in Secondary School Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2007. During her master′s program, she was awarded a graduate assistantship and the 2007 Ross Trust Scholarship from the American Counseling Association.

She also was a member of The Chancellor’s List (2004-2005, 2005-2006), Chi Sigma lota, Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International, Vice-President (20007), and Counselor Education Student Association (CESA), Vice President (2005, 2006, 2007).

More recently, Sherry has completed her doctoral level classes and pre-doctoral internship at Turtle Creek Valley MH/MR as she continues to pursue her Doctor of Psychology degree.

Sherry has completed a doctoral practicum placement at Allegheny General Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry conducting neuropsychological assessments with both inpatient and outpatient populations ranging from early childhood to geriatric population.

Additionally, she has completed a doctoral practicum placement that afforded her the opportunity to participate in forensic evaluations conducted by a psychologist that is associated with Allegheny County Forensic Associates as well as conducting psychotherapy with a wide range of populations.

Upon receiving her degree, Sherry will be pursuing post-doctoral hours to become a licensed psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania and continuing to teach as adjunct faculty.

Sherry is interested in specializing in forensic evaluations upon her Doctor of Psychology degree completion. In her free time, she enjoys tapping into her creative element that includes interior designing, gardening, cooking, and baking.

Vincent Piscar, M.A., LPC, CAADC

Vince received his B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. He acquired his M.A. degree in Counseling Services from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2005.

Vince is a licensed professional Counselor and is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Vince has worked in the field for over 15 years, working as a therapeutic staff support, social services worker with geriatrics, family therapist, and drug and alcohol specialist.
